Guinness World Record Attempt!
The Number of Freethrow Shots Made In an Hour

New Guinness book world record for free throws made in one hour.

Former Olympic scoring champion, LSU standout and personal shooting coach to SHAQ and other NBA and WNBA players, Ed Palubinskas

Just set a new Guinness book of world records for free throws attempted and made in one hour, and in thus doing he obliterated the same record set by him on may 20, 2004.

The original record set was attempted in Baton Rouge where he shot 880 free throws and made 867 all within a 60 minute time capsule while using only one ball and no human rebounders.

Not happy with the first attempt he demolished the old record by 385 more shots at a frenetic pace of one shot for about every 2.8 seconds. This time he used 8 rebounders and a rack of balls.

The new record is now 1,265 shots attempted and 1,206 made.

He set the record using only 6 of his newly invented SMARTballs  manufactured by BADEN, which is now on the market to help players dramatically improve their shooting on a global scale. The SMART ball carries 7 patents. The reason he is setting new records is to prove a point. Excuse the pun. Actually to prove many, many points.

The record was set at the Washington DC convention Center as a part of a national trade show for sports arenas and stadiums.

The date set was July 17 2005 and was clocked from 1:15-2:15 PM eastern standard time.

One note of interest was that after 1,000 actual shots were made there was an instance where he missed 2 consecutive free throws. Something he has not done since 1972 where he missed 4 free throws in one game. Quite a tragic experience.

Ed turns 55 years of age in September of 2005. He had a total hip replacement in November 2003 and will be playing full court basketball in the WORLD MASTER’S GAMES in Edmonton Canada from July 22-July 30 2005.
